Have you heard about the Global Oral Literacy Project connecting Espírito Santo and Minnesota? The "ProjetoGol" is underway, aiming to create a platform for showcasing poetry videos that bridge cultures and celebrate the art of spoken word. This project is designed to promote oral literacy on a global scale, fostering understanding and unity through the powerful medium of poetry.

Global Oral Literacy Project: Poetry Beyond Borders
With a total of 15 video performances—ranging from 3 to 20 minutes in length—ProjetoGol aims to reach an international audience, including academics, artists, and communities passionate about poetry and artistic expression. The project’s upcoming website will host these videos and serve as a hub for engagement. It will include a contact form for those interested in participating or collaborating, as well as detailed information about the project and the poets involved.
One of the most exciting aspects of this initiative is the opportunity to book workshops—focused on writing, culture, and empowerment—offered by the artists themselves. These can be tailored for educational, cultural, or artistic settings, either individually or in groups. The platform will also support donations and feature special events, helping sustain and grow this unique effort to share poetry across borders.
These additional features not only engage the audience but also create opportunities for interaction and networking among lovers of spoken word. They foster transcontinental art and help keep the dreams of young artists alive.
The story behind ProjetoGol begins at the 6th World Conference on Remedies to Racial and Social Inequality (6WC) in Cape Town, where poets came together to share and celebrate transcontinental oral literacies. That inspiring moment of cultural and artistic connection became the seed for a project that now continues to grow and expand its reach on the international poetry scene.
If you’re passionate about poetry, art, and multiculturalism, this is a project to watch—and support. Stay tuned for the launch of the website and upcoming opportunities to get involved. Together, we can make a difference and celebrate cultural diversity through the power of spoken word.
